Working With Uncertainty - An Existential Perspective for Coaching Psychologists

A one day workshop to be held at the

BPS London Office, Tabernacle Street, London.

As a result of the current world-wide economic crisis, responding to and living with uncertainty has become a particularly relevant issue for leaders, managers and organisations This workshop will present key ideas from existential psychology focused on the issues raised by uncertainty as it pertains to coaching within organisations. It will address how to draw out and work with the (often) implicit fears and concerns experienced by coachees when facing uncertainty so that the creative and constructive possibilities of uncertainty may be enhanced and incorporated into both organisational practice and identity.  This will be done through both theoretical and case study discussion and practical exercises. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own case material for discussion.

You will learn:

- Key principles from existential theory that are pertinent to coaching in general and to issues related to uncertainty and meaning in particular.

- Practical ways of working existentially within a coaching framework with particular emphasis on the exploration of uncertainty

- How to utilise the coaching relationship itself as a means of clarifying the coachee’s experience of uncertainty.

 It is particularly relevant in the current climate of uncertainty and change.

Professor Ernesto Spinelli has gained an international reputation as one of the leading contemporary trainers and theorists of existential analysis as applied to psychology and psychotherapy and, more recently, the related arena of coaching, and conflict mediation. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) as well as a founding member of the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology and an APECS accredited executive coach and coaching supervisor.

A conference fee of £90 for SGCP, BPS DOP and Association for Coaching Members /£120 for Non-Members /£65 for part-time students /£45 for full-time students, needs to be paid, in advance, to secure a place at the event (all prices inc. VAT). 

Space is limited to 50 delegates only.

Each attendee will receive a Workshop attendance certificate as evidence for CPD Logbooks or Practitioner-in-Training Logbooks.

I'm part of the group that's organising this years conference, and thought I'd take the opportunity of getting your input - whilst we still have some time to shape things.

We're hosting the conference at Royal Holloway univerisyty, Egham (15th and 16th December)

The title is changing perspectives - with a number of topical themes.
