Special Group in Coaching Psychology Chartered Members List
As part of the SGCP's drive to create an accreditation route for all coaching psychologists, the SGCP have launched a list for SGCP members who have Chartered Status. This list is an opportunity for Chartered Members to list in more detail the coaching psychology services that they offer. The list is linked to the Society's Directory of Chartered Psychologists and only SGCP members who appear in the Directory will be eligible to appear on the SGCP list.

Please note: all the members on this list have achieved Chartered status in specific areas of psychology. However, as currently there is no coaching psychology accreditation, members on this list are unable to hold a Chartered status in Coaching Psychology or possess an accredited Society qualification in coaching psychology.

The theoretical underpinnings of my coaching practice began when I was introduced to Gerard Egan's 'Skilled Helper' and has gathered momentum en route via such techniques as CBT, Narrative Therapy and Dialogue. In the current climate, I tend to find the brief, solutions-orientated approach popular, in which the client is helped to achieve their goals within a time limited period. I am able to provide psychometric review and facilitate organisational feedback if required. Whilst my framework for each session is formally structured around goals, my style is relaxed, personal, collaborative and motivational. I specialise in working with companies and people going through change as a result of conflict and have worked with large and small organisations both in the public and in the private sectors. I have in depth experience of a broad range of industries, including family businesses, professional services, the health service, the media, manufacturing and safety-critical industries. |

In 1990, Jay started his own consultancy and trained as a business psychologist. At first he delivered courses dealing with stress and career issues but increasingly specialised in personal / career / leadership development working one to one. Coaching at senior level led him to research leadership loneliness and to develop a questionnaire to identify people able to work alone.
