SGCP Events Co-ordinator Report
Siobhain O'Riordan The Event Team has remained busy this year and I am pleased to be able to report on some exciting developments. More generally, our activities have been varied and have included implementing the 2006 event programme as well as moving forward with the planning for the 2007 event programme. We will be holding our first tele-event on the topic of ‘Coaching Psychology Supervision’ on 17 October, which will be facilitated by Professor Michael Carroll. This will be the first time the SGCP has used this event format and we anticipate it will offer a highlevel of flexibility and scope in terms of future event planning, we hope to announce further tele-event titles soon. We also remain keen to source speakers / facilitators in a number of key areas that have been highlighted by SGCP members as of particular interest to them and we would like to encourage proposals for running ‘SGCP Professional Development Workshops’ for the 2007-2008 event programmes. Further information on how to submit a proposal can be found on the SGCP website www.bps.org.uk/coachingpsy. Alternatively, if there is a particular area of coaching psychology that would be of interest to you as a workshop or teleevent topic we would welcome your feedback so please do contact me via e-mail at siobhain.oriordan@btinternet.com. A further development is that the status of the conference this year has now changed to the SGCP ‘1st International Coaching Psychology Conference’. This international emphasis will enable opportunities to promote coaching psychology internationally and provide a forum for information sharing, discussion and the further development of links with the international coaching psychology community. The conference will also be on a larger scale to our successful 2nd Annual National Conference (2005) offering an excellent networking experience for SGCP members and an opportunity to become part of this historic international event taking coaching psychology further forward. Invited speakers and workshop facilitators will be joining us from the US, Australia and continental Europe and will include: Professor Michael Carroll, Dr Michael Cavanagh, Kristina Gyllensten, Professor David Lane, Dr Alex Linley, Professor Ernesto Spinelli and Dr Dianne Stober. A different and more varied programme is also planned with conference themes including: Ethics, Professional Practice and Supervision; Psychometrics and Coaching; Coaching Competence; Positive Psychology in Coaching Psychology; Multi-cultural, Diversity and Gender Coaching. The programme will include a series of keynote papers, full-day masterclasses, research and case study presentations, skills-based sessions and round-table discussions. Details and updates on the 2006-2007 event programme and the SGCP 1st International Coaching Psychology Conference are available on the ‘News’ page of the SGCP website and we do hope you can attend or participate in one or more SGCP event(s) in 2006. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the conference team and all of those involved in our other event activities for their help and support to date. Siobhain O’Riordan
