Julie Allan The British Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics and Conduct (2009), to which members of the SGCP are required to subscribe, describes four principles: respect, competence, responsibility, and integrity - all of which apply to this issue’s What would you do if …? question at the end of the column. Among the many dilemmas that can flow from a changing situation, especially one that involves somebody’s well-being, is the requirement for psychologists to ‘Practice within the boundaries of their competence’.
