Angela Hetherington is a Chartered Psychologist, a BPS registered, ‘Psychologist, Specialising in Psychotherapy’, and a founding member of the SGCP. She is trained in psychodynamic counselling (Leicester University) and process consultancy (Tavistock Institute).
Angela has a sound academic background, with current affiliation with Westminster University. She has extensive experience of management, consultancy and coaching to a broad range of organisations, including Home Office, National Probation Service and the Department of Health. As Board Director, Clinical Director and Operations Director of an international Employee Assistance Provider, she was responsible for policy, practice and delivery of psychological, counselling, and coaching services to blue chip private and public sector companies.
She is a Board Director of witness, the charitable organisation for the prevention of exploitation within the clinical profession. She has served as member of other clinical governance bodies (BPS Disciplinary Committee, Postgraduate Medical And Education Board, Subcommittee on Quality Assurance, Department of Health, National Clinical Training Committee). She has publications, radio and television interviews on the subject of occupational trauma, counselling and clinical standards of practice.
