27th June 2011 11.00am - 5.00pm
Registration from 10.30am

Coaching to people’s strength’s feels like an obvious approach for most professional coaches and coaching psychologists and yet the evidence shows that this is not as easy as it sounds. Whilst taking in account some of the barriers inherent in strengths based coaching, together, in this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how to help your clients recognise and understand their strengths, and, more importantly, how to move towards developing a fuller picture of positive psychological health. Content will include:

  • What’s your problem? - The reasons and evidence as to why we are inherently drawn to weaknesses;
  • The rising zeitgeist of positive psychology and strength based approaches - from ‘fad’ to full integration;
  • Defining ‘strengths’ and ‘strengths based coaching’;
  • Exploring strengths, assessments and strengths based interviewing - helping your clients understand and recognise their strengths;
  • StrengthsREADer - working with strengths based coaching cards as a positive strengths approach;
  • So what about weaknesses? - working with conflicting situations and understanding overdone strengths;
  • Beyond strengths - moving towards a fuller picture of positive psychological health including resilience and positive emotions.
