Ethics
Members of the SGCP are required to subscribe to the British Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. Practitioners need to be committed to developing their own skills of ethical navigation, whether newly in the profession or an experienced practitioner. Each issue of The Coaching Psychologist will carry an ethics column and the column, like this website, will include ‘What Would You Do?’ scenarios to prompt your reflection. For guidance on ethical dilemmas, the British Psychological Society has set up an advisory panel. If you wish to gain assistance on a particular issue, then a range of guidance, including FAQ's on practice issues generally can be found on the Ethical Guidelines and Support page. This page also has a link for submitting a more specific enquiry to the panel, and they will call on an advisor in the coaching psychology field for issues related to coaching psychology.
